Rotary Club of Accra South Hosts ECG Managing Director for an Insightful Discussion on the Future of Electricity in Ghana
The Managing Director of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), Samuel Dubik Mahama, was warmly welcomed by the Rotary Club of Accra South on May 9th for an enlightening discussion on the challenges and opportunities facing Ghana’s power sector. The event, which took place at the prestigious African Regent Hotel in Accra, was well-attended and created an atmosphere of enthusiasm and engagement.
The meeting was in line with this year’s Rotary theme, “Imagine Rotary,” and aimed to inspire attendees to visualize a better future for Ghana, fueled by a more efficient and profitable ECG. The collaboration between 11 other Rotary Clubs showcased a unified effort to tackle critical issues affecting the nation.
During his presentation, Mr. Mahama gave a comprehensive overview of the challenges that have plagued the ECG, such as the government’s role and other agencies’ influence on the company’s debt situation, as well as the way forward for the organization. He emphasized the importance of cooperation between the ECG and the public to achieve a more reliable and efficient power supply.
The insightful presentation covered a broad range of topics, including the ECG’s efforts to enhance its infrastructure, increase reliability, and improve the functionality of the ECG app. Throughout the discussion, Mr. Mahama took various questions from the audience, addressing concerns and sharing his vision for the company’s future.
